Additions to labour history archive collections 2025

The annual guide for 2025 to new labour history material in UK archives is now available here on the Society for the Study of Labour History website.

Compiled by the SSLH Archives and Resources Committee (SSLH-ARC), the guide records new accessions and where they might be found for the benefit of researchers.

Significant additions to the archives in 2025 included:

  • The political papers of Jim Sillars, MP successively for the Labour Party, Scottish Labour Party and Scottish National Party, and additional papers of former SNP leader Margo MacDonald, now in the National Library of Scotland.
  • The minute book of the Merthyr Tydfil branch of the Operative Bricklayers’ Society from 1918 to 1923, now in the National Library of Wales.
  • The papers of the late labour historian Professor Richard Croucher (1949-2022), covering the period from c1865 to the 1980s, now in the Modern Records Centre, Warwick University.
  • The papers of the late Labour MP and Cabinet Minister Mo Mowlam, now in Teesside Archive.
