The annual Newport Chartist Convention takes place this year on Saturday 4 November at St Woolos Cathedral, Newport. The convention runs from 9.30am to 4pm.
The Convention is part of the Newport Rising Festival, which celebrates the Chartist rising of 1839, and is held annually.
Speakers will include:
- Katrina Navickas: Digital mapping of Chartist Land Plan subscribers and delegates to the National Conventions
- S. I. Martin
- Steve Poole: An update on the Riot1831 project, with particular reference to the Newport workshop
- Ray Stroud and David Osmond: Some highlights of the exhibition of art related to the Newport Rising, to be shown at Newport Art Gallery from October 2023 – January 2024
- Kevin Brennan: the Cardiff MP will close the convention with a performance of a selection of his songs
Tickets cost £15.00 including lunch, tea and coffee, and will be available nearer to the Convention date from the Newport Rising website.
