In search of Peter Keating and the (Belfast) Expelled Workers’ Representative Committee

I would be obliged for information on:

1) Peter Keating, Labour councillor, London, 1921-1922, associate inter alia of Shapurji Saklatvala and Rev. Herbert Dunnico, a prominent Baptist minister, future Labour MP and General Secretary of the Peace Society. Keating may also have been connected with Marylebone Trades Council; and

2) the activities in London of the (Belfast) Expelled Workers’ Representative Committee, who had an office at 2 Union Road, London N7 in 1920-1921.

  1. I have emailed Emmet O’Connor direct about a couple of items I located in the press. In the Glasgow paper ‘Forward’ of 18 September 1920 about the Belfast Expelled Workers Fund co-ordinated by the Belfast Labour Party. Also a report in the ‘Daily Herald’ of 7 September 1920 about 1046 more victims of the ‘Orange Pogrom’ – mainly railwaymen and workers in the motor industry plus ‘a constant stream of women’ in the linenware rooms of Belfast. Nothing yet however on Peter Keating though I will continue to explore. Mike Mecham
